Thanks for the music. Thanks for the singing.! It's good to be here. Somebody asked me, several people have asked me, how long is your message going to be? And I said, I don't know. You tell me when I'm done. [0:17] I will tell you this much though. A month ago, I was speaking about 70 elementary young kids, and they listened so well for 45 minutes. [0:28] And then I thought, you know what, Jesus hung on the cross for six hours. What's wrong with a six hour message? We can remember him the whole time. But you know what, I'm going to tell you this much. [0:39] How many are going to watch the NCAA finals tomorrow night? Okay, a few. It's going to be shorter than that. It's going to be shorter than that. And I don't know anybody who, unless it's a blowout, I don't know of anybody who turns the game off. Who watched the Super Bowl this last year? [0:56] Okay, a few more. And I think it's probably going to be a fourth of what the Super Bowl is. And nobody turned the Super Bowl off unless it's not a good game. [1:07] So if it's not a good message, you can turn it off. We had some rocking chairs back there last night, and it looks like they're gone. But you could go and sit back there and rock. [1:19] But I'm so glad to be here today. Happy Easter morning to you. Today, they say, is the most attended day of the year at church. [1:31] Even more so than Christmas. So where have you all been? No. It's good. I'm glad you're here. Maybe you're visiting and you go to another church. [1:42] If you don't fellowship somewhere, I encourage you, you know, if you're having trouble finding some place, try it out on a regular basis here. I encourage you to. Because it's great to talk about the Lord. [1:57] And that's what I want to do this morning. And this morning, I don't have jokes. I don't have, you know, but we're going to get right into it so that I don't have you for those six hours. And so this morning, we're going to concentrate on one word. [2:13] And I thought, you know what? Let's figure out what that word is. And so I'm going to have two people, one for the ladies and one for the men. I think Miss Amy Vineyard would represent the ladies well because she is a teacher. [2:29] She kept me in line when she was in my youth group on task and told me every time I was. I was not on schedule. So she's going to represent the ladies and Mr. Gary, right. [2:42] I'm going to ask him to represent the men because he has been an educator many, many years of his life. And I've done work for him. So I know he's a sharp man. [2:53] And so let's quickly just try to decide what are we going to speak about today? And I got my gamer candy for the winner. That's we have that each week at youth group. And so we're going to let the ladies start first. [3:06] And all you got to do is give me a letter. And if you get a letter, then I'm going to give you a guess. So Miss Amy, you want to give me a letter? E. E. Okay, let's see. Okay, E. [3:19] All right. Wait a second. I missed something here. There is an E. There is an E. [3:34] Do I dare let you have a chance? Do you want the game to end that early? I don't know it yet. You don't know it? Okay. All right. All right. [3:45] Mr. Gary Wright, you give me a letter. E. E. E. All right. Back to Amy. Give me a letter. [3:57] I'm hearing P. P? Oh, I'm hearing B. B. B. B. Yes. One B. Okay. [4:08] Do you have a guess? All right. Time up. Mr. Gary Wright, do you have a letter? How about an R? How about an R? Oh, sorry about that. [4:19] Oh, wait a second. We have an R. Wait a second. We have two R's. Mr. Gary Wright, I'm going to give you a shot at it. How about an M? How about an M? [4:30] Oh, he, he. He plays Wheel of Fortune. What's there, one M? Another M. Another M? Oh, yeah, I forgot that one. [4:42] And what is that word, Mr. Gary? I think it's remember. I think it is too, and you are my gamer today. And you can give it to one of your... I was asked to speak about three months ago for Easter, and this is the word that came into my mind as I was looking at scripture. [5:03] And I thought, you know what? That would be a... I think this would be a great word for Easter and a great topic for us to look at. [5:14] And so that's what we want to look at this morning. Remember. Remember. Now, you know what? This past Thursday, I was downstairs. I met some parents of two of our teachers. [5:26] They were bringing in a changing table for the daycare. And I started talking to him, and he would... Her dad was really, really fascinating to talk with. And I asked him his name, and he told him. [5:38] And we're talking after about five minutes ago. What was it? I think of them. I said, what's his name? I forgot. And after 10 minutes, I said, I need to ask you again. What was your name again? Ah, yes. And we had a great talk for like 20 minutes. [5:51] It was just a really enjoyable time. And you know what his name is? I don't remember. I have to tell you, I don't remember. I forgot it again. I came up here. [6:02] I was working on the message, and I was like, what is his name? I forgot it again. I don't know if you were like that. But that second time, I'm like, okay, he's going to tell me my name. I'm going to embed it in my mind, and I'm going to remember it. [6:16] I forgot it. I forgot it. And it was very interesting. It was a great conversation. And so it reminded me of Wednesday at youth group. [6:30] We had the games. We had two games planned, short games before a message. And I had everything out. I brought everything out. We played the first game. I said, okay, now let's see. [6:41] Who's got the box of cards? Okay. Oh, wait. No, I put them out here. Who hasn't? And nobody had them. I said, did I put them in the office? I went back. They weren't there. [6:52] And we looked and looked. And we thought, maybe we threw it in the trash can. Finally, I said, you know what? Let's go down and play a round robin. And then we'll do our message. And I'm going downstairs. And I wanted to see what time it is. [7:03] So I reached in for my phone and I pulled out the box of cards. I said, Jill, you won't believe this. They were right in my pocket. And I said, I'm going to put them in my pocket. And I said, I'm going to put them in my pocket. And I said, I'm going to put them in my pocket. [7:14] So if I forget what time it is when we're done, I'm sorry. But remember. And there's about over 250 times that the word remember or some form of remember is used in the Bible. [7:29] And so I wanted to look at that this morning. And the first thing is if the first time the word remember is used is back in Genesis. But if you remember, here's Noah and the flood. [7:43] And Noah's on that ark with his wife and his three sons and their wives and animals. And all of a sudden it starts raining. And all these people who had rejected the opportunity to get in that ark were drowned. [8:01] God was judging the world. And they had that opportunity. And I can imagine outside they're yelling, Noah, open the ark. We believe now. Let us in. [8:12] It was too late. And I imagine on the boat, maybe they were hearing the screaming. Oh, wow. And probably maybe the lightning and the rain for 40 days and 40 nights. And then it got a little more quiet because people were drowning. [8:26] And then finally, it said in the Bible in Genesis that all living things were killed. And then it stopped raining. And then there's that ark with Noah, his wife and six others and the animals. [8:42] And all of a sudden it's probably getting a little quiet. Guys, it's not raining anymore. I don't hear anybody. And after maybe a couple of weeks. Wow. [8:53] Has God forgotten us? There's a lot of water out there. What's going to happen to us? But in chapter eight, verse one, look what it says. But God remembered Noah. [9:05] He remembered what he said to them. He was going to use them to start over again. And they spent over a year in that ark. And then God used them to populate the world. [9:17] God did not forget. When God remembers, he remembers. And there's many instances of this in the Bible. And I just picked out two. The second one is Hannah. Hannah. If you read about Hannah in 1 Samuel. [9:31] She didn't have any children. And for that time, especially, to not have any children. Well, her husband, Elkanah, had two wives. [9:43] And the other one, it would just, she had children. And she would give her a rough time. You don't have any kids. And you can imagine Hannah. It says here she was greatly distressed. [9:55] And her and her husband were at the temple worshiping. And they were eating. And then she leaves and she goes and it says she went to pray. And it says here, greatly distressed. [10:06] Lord, I don't have a child. They make fun of me. Would you please? And the priest thought she was drunk. And he said, would you put away your wine? [10:19] He said, I'm not drunk. I am crying out to God. And he says, go home and may God grant you your petition. And it says the next year that Elkanah, her husband, knew Hannah, his wife. [10:33] And the Lord remembered her. You know what? She may have been forgotten by others. But God didn't. He remembered her. And he remembers you. He remembers me. [10:44] He remembers everything you've done. Everything you should have done. That's our God is amazing. Absolutely amazing. And so I want to look at four things. [10:57] Before those four things though, I put this slide. Since God remembers, there's no need to worry. There's no need to worry. There's no need to worry. [11:08] I worry about so many things. And there's no need for it. It never helps. It doesn't make it come about. In fact, it just brings bad things on your health. [11:19] And it doesn't solve a thing. But God remembers, so we don't need to worry. And this morning, I want us to look at four things. I want us to remember four things about Jesus. And maybe it's nothing new to you. [11:32] Maybe some things are. But we want to remember Jesus. I don't want you to remember me. Remember him. And so let's go through this. And it all starts, the first one I say is about his accusations. [11:47] The accusations on Jesus, they were false. They were false. Remember that this morning. The things they had to say about Jesus when they wanted to get rid of him were false. [11:58] And it started in the Garden of Eden. Or not in the Garden of Eden. Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus went there to pray. He knew what was happening to him. He knew what was right in front of him, that he was going to die. [12:12] That's why he came here. And it says he was in great distress as well. He, it said he sweat as it were, drops of blood. And yet he says to the Father, not my will, but yours. [12:25] Because I've come to do your will. I will go to that cross. I know what's right ahead. And I know there's going to be a period when you turn your face on me. He said, but I will do it. [12:37] And it was during that time then his disciples are on the side sleeping. And then Judas had went and got the army and they came back and they arrested Jesus. Because Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver. [12:50] Can you imagine being sold for 30 pieces of silver? I wonder if one of these kids here, how would it feel like to you if your mom and dad said, you know what? We need money. We need to pay for our rent or our part of our house. [13:03] Hey, Lily, she's worth 30 pieces of silver. Now we can live in our house still. Lily's gone, but that's okay. We get to live here. [13:15] Yeah, we can laugh about it. But if that came to that point, you'd be like, what? You're selling me? And that's what they did to the Lord Jesus. Judas sold him. [13:26] He had a contract. They came and they got him and they took him. They took him. Let's look at these couple of verses here. Matthew 25. It says, Now the chief priests, the elders and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but found none. [13:43] Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none, but at least two false witnesses. But at last two false witnesses came forward. Now stop for a second here. They're not looking for true testimony. [13:57] They're looking for false testimony. They'd given up on the true. They couldn't find anything. They said, so let's make things up. And I don't also, maybe you're thinking, oh, man, this sounds like today's world. [14:13] That happens all the time. They couldn't come up with any that would stick. And here it said that Jesus was before the high priest, the council, the Jewish council, and they have to come up. [14:28] They have to have some accusations or else there's no trial and they can't get any to stick. And then we go back to it. It said there are finally two men, two false witnesses come forward to false witnesses. [14:43] What's it say? They said this fellow said I'm able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days. Wow. What's so big about that? [14:56] Here he was. And these two guys, he told us we heard him. Usually back then they probably say he's a lunatic. [15:09] He's a lunatic. But here, look at the next couple of verses. The high priest arose and said to him, are you going to answer? Because Jesus didn't say anything. [15:20] Come on. Are you going to answer? Do you need a lawyer? Got anybody to represent you? What is it? These men testify against you. But Jesus kept silent. [15:31] He knew it was wrong. He knew it was rigged. He knew they were false. But he didn't say a word. And the high priest answered and said to him, I put you under an oath by the living God. [15:42] Tell us if you are the Christ, the son of God. Tell us. You're under oath now. You're on record. Tell us. And it says, there he is. [15:55] Look at him. You tell me. I want to know. And the next couple of verses, it said, Jesus said, it is as you say. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter, you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of the power and coming on the clouds of heaven. [16:13] Then look what happened. The high priest says he tore his clothes. What? He's saying he's God. [16:25] What should we do with them? They said, get rid of him. Get rid of him. Let's have a trial now. Let's bring him to pilot. [16:38] And so the first thing is the accusations against Jesus were false. He shouldn't even be going to trial. Cause they're false. The high priest said, you know what? [16:52] I'm going to have to throw this case out. It has no legal standing. And yet they were false. So the second thing to remember is that Jesus's trial was brutal and the verdict was unfair. [17:07] It was brutal. And the verdict they come up with, it's unfair. So let's look at that here. In John 19, it said, pilot, therefore took Jesus and scourged him. [17:18] You know what? It says four verses earlier in the previous chapter or three verses earlier. It says, Jesus brought him out and said, take him. I find no fault in him. Your accusations are false. [17:29] I don't see anything wrong with it. Hey, you know what? I'm going to scourge him. I'm going to give him a little whipping. You know what? It wasn't a little whipping. It was a horrible whipping. [17:40] It was a brutal whipping. And you know, I usually will show my whip and it means nothing really. That they bound Jesus. [17:54] They put him against the post. The soldiers took a whip. They had lead and glass bones probably tied to it. And they took turns. [18:05] And you've got to remember that the soldiers love blood. They love torture. They love pain. And here they put him against there. And they show them. [18:16] And they didn't have the wimpy soldiers do it. It was the big strong soldiers. And they were whipping him. And they were bringing it across his back. [18:27] Time after time after time for you and for me. Because remember the accusations are false. He didn't deserve it. They don't deserve it. And finally they were like, have you had enough? [18:40] It says in Isaiah prophesied years, hundreds of years earlier, he would be whipped. His back would be so torn up for you and me. [18:54] For you and for me. And it says then they plated a crown of thorns. The word plate means to push on. To take those thorns and just put them down on it. [19:08] And I used to just set it on my head when I had some hair. But since I don't have that much, it hurts too much just to set it. But they plated it. And the blood that the content poured out then from his head. [19:21] Ah, and they were mocking him at the time. And laughing at him. And then it says in that scripture we just looked at, then they put purple, a purple robe. [19:32] You say you're a king, here's your purple robe. Wow, what a way to treat a king. For you and for me. For you and for me. [19:43] And then it says, Pilate went out in the next verse in John 19. Verse four, it says, he went out and said to them, behold, I bring it out to you that I may, that you may know that I. [19:54] He had all this done to him. And then he says, he's done nothing wrong. He's done nothing wrong. There would be such an uproar today if that happened to you or to me, or we would want that. [20:07] Nobody standing up for Jesus though. Nobody. And it says they brought him back to Herod. And Herod says to the people, behold your king. [20:21] And the people said, crucify that man. We've had enough of him. We're tired of him healing people. We're tired of him, of supplying bread and that. [20:35] You know, they didn't say that. But that's what he did. They said, get rid of them. And he says, shall I crucify your king? They said, he's not our king. Caesar's our king. [20:46] Get rid of them. And therefore, Pilate has a decision. He's done nothing wrong. I find no fault in them. [20:58] I already gave them punishment. What do I do? It says, Pilate delivered Jesus to them to be crucified. [21:10] So they took Jesus and led him away. They led him away. Crucify him. You don't, I don't see anything wrong with them, but get rid of them. And the second part of that thing to remember, the trial was brutal. [21:29] The verdict was unfair, which leads us to the third thing. Jesus died and was buried. Jesus died and was buried. [21:40] So they, he had to take his cross piece. They made him carry his own cross piece. And one of the gospels say he was going along and he was stumbling because they had beat him so bad. [21:52] And they forced a man named Simon of Cyrene into a service there. And they said, here, you carry the cross piece for him. We've almost killed him already. [22:03] And it said they took him outside the city and they went up on a hill. Usually I think about when I go up on a hill, I like to look around and see everything that's out there. [22:15] But instead this hill people could see from afar. Oh, another one getting crucified. Another one getting killed. [22:26] And they took him up on that hill and it was called Golgotha, Golgotha. Place of a skull. And if you look close enough, you almost can see the two eyes, the nose and the mouth. [22:37] The place of a skull. Because when they put you up there, you didn't come back alive. You died there on those crosses. And there was Jesus up on up there. [22:50] They, they took them and they, they took three nails and they put his arms out and they took one nail. Yeah. [23:01] Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Boom. Through it. That arm is secured to the cross. They take that second one, stretch out the other side. [23:13] Boom. His arms are nailed. And then they put his feet together. And some show them separate. I don't know. Most people say that they were probably together. [23:24] And right through the middle. Boom. He's nailed to that cross. He's nailed to that cross. And they put that cross up there. [23:35] And they probably let it fall into the ground. Poop. Oh. And there's Jesus dying on the cross. For you and for me. And yet the soldiers. [23:48] Hey, he's got garments. Let's gamble for him. I want him. High, high rollers win. There's Jesus suffering behind. And they're having playing games in front of them. [24:01] They're used to this. They're used to seeing blood and people being killed. They're having their, their own fun. And it says, Then two robbers were crucified with them. [24:17] One on the right and one on the left. This is what started me on this journey. For this message today. There was two robbers. Nailed on one on each side of Jesus. [24:30] And you know, all we know about these two men. They're robbers. They're robbers. And now they're dying. Throughout all of history on Easter. [24:41] They're probably talked about almost every Easter. Two men. We don't know their names, but they're robbers. And they're being crucified. Wow. [24:54] Two others. And we're going to come back to this. Because there's Jesus in the middle. Taking all that punishment for you and for me. And there's a man on each side who have front row seats. [25:09] As they're dying also. Now look what it says here in Matthew 27. It says those passing by were speaking abusively to him. Shaking their heads. You who are going to destroy the temple, rebuild it. [25:23] Save yourself. If, if, if. You got a chance to prove us to us right now. If you really the Christ. If you come down, we'll believe it. [25:36] And it said the chief priests also with the scribes. They were mocking him. And there they were down there. Jesus, you're up on a cross. You can't do anything to me. You can't even move your arms. [25:49] I'm laughing at you. Instead they were punching him, mocking him, spitting at him. Ridiculing him. Wow. And you know what? Jesus who had the false accusations. [26:02] The brutal trial. The unfair verdict. He says, Father, forgive him. Forgive him. I couldn't have done it. I would have said, if I get down from here, you're going to be sorry. [26:21] Jesus could have said, Father, I've had enough of this. But instead he knew why he came for you and for me. Now, this is the part. In two gospels, in Matthew and Mark, look at what it says here. [26:36] And the two robbers who had been crucified with him were also insulting him in the same way. They were also insulting him. Both of them. None of them were innocent about this. [26:48] They're both making fun of him. Just like all the other, the chief priests, the people walking by. If you're the Christ, the one robber says, come down. [27:00] And that's what it says here. One of the criminals was hurling abuse. Are you not the Christ? Save yourself in us. So this must have been sometime later. Remember I said six hours on the cross. [27:13] And we just had a verse where they were both mocking. And then we now we get a preview in Luke. Up close. He's still hurling abuse. [27:27] But look what happened to the other thief. Look what he says. Now, remember, again, he said both robbers were hurling abuse. Something happened in those six hours. [27:40] I don't know when. But look what now he says. He answered and rebuked him. Don't you fear God since you're under the same sentence of commendation? [27:52] I've been watching this man. He's innocent. He doesn't deserve it. He's had false accusations. Look at the brutal beating he's taken. [28:05] And now he's dying. And look at 41. And we indeed are suffering justly. We're receiving what we deserve for our deeds. This man has done nothing wrong. Somewhere in that time, possibly as he's looking how Jesus has acted. [28:19] Father, forgive them. He realizes he's who he is. He's done nothing wrong. He doesn't deserve this. And he puts his trust in Jesus. He does. Or I came just because it's Easter. [28:30] But I don't. I think it's a fairy tale. I think it's really not true. Maybe you're like that first thief still ridiculing. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. [28:41] Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. [28:52] Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. maybe you've come this morning and you could be like this thief oh he is who he said he's the savior of the world he's the only way i can get to heaven and look at this this is the reason we know this look at this next part he was saying jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom you know what i don't know what his theology was he probably didn't know much about scripture whatsoever but he said i'm gonna die he's doesn't deserve this i'm i'm gonna bank on him that he's paying my price right here on this cross and then he says i've only got a short time remember me and the greatest words he could ever hear jesus out respect him truly i say to you today you'll be with me in paradise what what a security there is no better security that he could have had no better better words that he could hear from him you'll be with me you'll be with me because i'm your savior i will remember you wow i'll remember and that's what brought this all to this here the lord jesus remembers he remembers and then it said it got dark for three hours from noon till three and it is as if that it was god to his father was turning his back and putting all the sins of the world past present future right on his son it he literally was taking hell for you and for me and it could have been any worse it couldn't been any worse and then at the end of those he yells my god my god why have you forsaken me and then it says it is finished it is finished he cries out it's finished and there it said he yielded up his spirit he had paid the price he'd done everything the father had passed him it was over and there was mother and others that were probably like oh they killed him it was it was not fair those accusations were false they treated him horribly it was a brutal trial the verdict was wrong unfair they put him up on the cross and he's died he died and can you imagine if you were his mom or whatever your brother if he had sisters he did nothing wrong and it said that they uh it was the day of um they wanted to be able to take the uh the passover and um so they they had to kill him because they had to get him off a cross because it's as cursed as everyone that hangs on a tree and they go to the first and second robbers and they break their their uh legs because they're still breathing but when they break them and they're done and it says they came to jesus though and he was dead already he was dead already they didn't break his bone and it was prophesied they wouldn't hundreds of years earlier and it says that they put a spear right up his side and blood flowed out mingled with water he'd given it all he'd given it all for you and for me everything and then it says joseph of arimathea asks can i can i give him a proper varial it says he came took him off the cross and he wrapped him in linen cloths with uh nicodemus nicodemus if you remember earlier came to jesus by night and he shows up again here to help give him a proper burial and it [32:56] says they took him to a tomb that was never used before and they put him in that tomb and it said they sealed that tomb they put two guards in front he was nailed with two uh thieves on each side one on each side now they have a guard on each side protecting that opening stone road against it it's done he's had a false accusations he's had a brutal trial he had an unfair uh verdict he's been crucified and now they buried him it's over it's over there's our list three of them now i have to tell you real quick before we hear the exciting news i was here two weeks ago and we had two rows of of our um preschool kids from daycare and we're going over this obviously it was much much shorter and and you know the following week was what we're going to see next miss teresa was going to share that with them and and here's this little girl here it starts crying and then the rest of the class is getting ready to cry i said well guys i can't i'm not going to leave you like this and wait until next week the story gets good i had to tell them they were already and the teacher's like guys it's it's it's okay and so i had i had to break the story so teresa i hope i didn't spoil it for you this past week but number four best of all we remember that jesus is alive he's not in the grave he's alive for you and for me today it proves that he has conquered death he's taken the penalty for you and for me three days later it says he rose it's easter this is what we represent this is what we celebrate today the women went to the uh the uh to to bring spices to anoint him and they're like who's gonna roll the stone away they get there and the stones roll away the guards are as dead men they go inside he's not there where is he they say he's alive it says you're looking for the dead uh the the no you're looking for him who is alive among the dead why why he's he's not dead he's alive and they go to share that great news with everybody he's alive jesus is alive he's not on the cross he's not in the grave he's alive and he's alive today and you know what these next couple verses and then we want to take communion it says for god so loved the world that he gave his only son that's what that's what we just went over jesus took a price that you and i deserved the accusations were false the trial was horrible brutal the uh the verdict was unfair he was killed he was buried but he's not dead he's alive he is alive today and look john 3 36 he that believeth on the son has everlasting life if you are have your trust in jesus christ right now you have everlasting life if you don't you're like that first thief who was also mocking jesus it's and and you know what the wrath of god abides on you and that's what we remember and i put the slide in there because i think it's wonderful yeah i told you stories about how i can't remember things but then there's times people come up and they say i'm sorry i hurt you kevin you're forgiven but you know what i have trouble forgetting those kind of things maybe a month goes by and i see them do something like i remember what you did oh yeah but but look what jesus says he said when you trust him your sins your iniquities i will remember no more he [36:59] chooses to forget all the wrong things and that's why we are able to be with him and i want to uh end with this because we're remembering the lord and and he says and i would encourage you if you're a believer to remember the lord because it looked what it says here in first corinthians 11 for i received from the lord which i also i delivered to you that on the night when he was betrayed took bread when he given thanks he broke it and said this is my body which is for you this do in remembrance of me i'd encourage you i don't know if on sundays or or sometime during the week you meet with other believers to remember him the lord says remember me he says remember me and we're going to do that right now and then we'll be closing and we're going to first remember his body it was broken torn nailed to a cross and i'm going to ask teddy if you'll give thanks for this and then uh if uh bob and mike and maybe david if you you guys could pass out the the crackers um the lord says remember me and kids if you don't usually take it i i'd say you know uh don't take it this morning or you can go with your parents and um yeah if you'll thank the lord for it father god uh just thank you for the message we can hear this morning uh just to the the crucifixion story lord and uh thank you that it didn't just end there on the cross and in the grave but uh that ended uh three days later when uh when the stone was rolled away and jesus uh was resurrected lord and uh we think uh just about how great of a thought that is and as was mentioned earlier that is our hope uh the resurrection lord uh the book of roman says that we don't hope for what we already have which is our salvation uh but we we hope for that which we don't have which is the redemption of our body the the resurrection lord where one day we'll put on uh immortality and we'll put on that which is imperishable we look forward to that and we thank you for the the cross and just uh the body that was broken there and we thank you that that was just the plan of salvation from the beginning and we thank you that jesus was obedient to the point of death even death on the cross pray this in his name it says after he took the bread he said this is my body which was gonna be for you i'm gonna pay your price it says are we back on well the next verse here let me look it up here first corinthians 11 in the same way verse 25 he took the cup also after supper saying this cup is a new covenant in my blood do this as often you drink it in remembrance of me we've been remembering the lord and he says i want you to remember me and we want to do that right now and ben if you could thank the lord for the help and then we'll pass that lord we just want to thank you for all that you've done for us thank you for providing for us thank you for protecting us thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and then obviously rising again on the third day defeating death um lord uh we just want to uh come in humble gratitude and uh we would just ask that we would see others in the same way that you see them we would ask that we will speak to and treat others in the way that that you would lord we ask that we would be more like you in every way as we go forward this week in remembrance of [41:01] that and remembrance of your sacrifice and um yeah lord just um um fill our hearts with gratitude and appreciation for you and we just ask that we would be good ambassadors for you and represent you you well this week and as as we remember who you are and what you did for us uh we are just so thankful lord in your name we pray amen we're going to close with a final song and i just say to you uh uh remember remember if you're like me uh i'll go through the week and then oh i forgot all about jesus i get so caught up in the things of this world things i need to do legitimate things and it's good to be here he says when you take the bread in the cup you remember him father uh thank you for easter yeah and it's interesting we we remember your death the the disciples didn't come together to remember all the good things you did those are all noted or many of them are noted but you said remember my death because that's what it took to pay for your sins and yet easter is just the greatest thing about it because if you didn't rise you're just like any everybody else and so thank you that we can remember our savior to this day and i pray that this easter is just a wonderful day for each person here you are so good and we want to praise you amen
